Since 2015, Anupama have been serving as Director of the Culture Department at the Asia-Europe Foundation, an intergovernmental not-for-profit organisation publicly funded by 53 members of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM). In this role, she is in charge of ASEF’s strategy in arts, culture & heritage as well as the day-to-day operations of the Department. Anupama is responsible for ASEF’s programme portfolio in culture, which comprises of digital platforms (culture360.ASEF.org) travel grants (Mobility First!) and support to ASEM initiatives (ASEM Cultural Festival). She also designs civil society engagement with policymakers at the ASEM Culture Ministers’ Meeting, which takes place every 2 years as part of the G2G Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) informal dialogue process. Prior to joining ASEF in 2009, Anupama worked with the International Labour Organisation and with independent arts spaces in India. Anupama represents ASEF on the Executive Committee of the Asia-Europe Museum Network (ASEMUS). She also sits on the oard of Arts Equator, a south east Asian arts website. She holds degrees in English Literature and International Studies. She is a trained dancer in the Indian classical style of Bharatnatyam.
